äForgive me.ô the admiral uttered silently. His face now showed no sign of a smile or arrogance but honest sympathy. He admired the chivalry of the hostile fleet and hated that he could not repay it.
For a few more moments he watched the battle, both Fleets had started to take losses. Finally he took a deep breath and regained his posture. As he turned around and started to slowly walk out of the bridge, new ships dropped out of warp above and below the Battlefield. Battlegroups Beta and Gamma had arrived....

When I joined the Federal Navy Academy I really only had one goal in mind. To become a Deimos Pilot. It all started when me and my father were on a trip through Aridia in a civilian transport to visit my grandparents who had settled in the Yiratal Starsystem.
We were en route, my father had taken me to the board cinema where we were watching the newest movie of Blake Kimble: "Payback: Apocalypse on Caldari Prime", when suddenly the alarm went off. Communication went through the ship and passengers were asked to move to their rooms and fasten the security belts.
We were under attack by pirates. I was about 13 years old then and I was scared to death. My father stayed calm tho, he had been in many situations like this in his life. Alltho I think he might have felt a little uncomfortable too, since he wasn't exactly in control.
On the way to our room we passed the panorama deck, where i could catch a glimpse of our attackers. I could identify the hull of a Caracal, a Caldari cruiser class ship. I couldn't make out if it was a navy ship or an outlaw. What I could see tho, was a bunch of missiles launched right in our direction. I stood like in shock and awe, right before impact I felt my father pull me back into a corner holding me secure as the explosion shook the ship.
I took a peek around the corner and saw the Caracal hovering there, launchers pointed in our direction. She didn't fire. My Father whispered: "They are negotiating a price. Once they got their money they will be off.... They will pay, im sure"
The silence lasted for almost a minute, a long minute. Then all of the sudden I could see the launchers of the caldari cruiser light up again. They were preparing to fire again! I allready saw my short life passing by when all of the sudden a bunch of missiles were fired in our direction, closing in ... and passing by.
Explosions rocked the ship, but it were not direct hits. And then it happened, the moment that should become the turning point for me. The moment that set my goal to become a Deimos pilot.
The panorama deck was covered by a sleek shadow, followed by a loud, humming sound. A Deimos passed at minimal distance, it seemed like the boosters almost blew the windows away as she passed by and charged at the Caracal. The Caldari Pilot had turned 180 and was trying to get away. All the while there were still missiles impacting on the Deimos, whose weapons were still silent.
Then it all happened very fast, the Deimos had caught up to its prey, white flashing bolts of energy ripped through the Caldari cruiser who was allready badly damaged after the first few salvos. Another Salvo struck, and another one, and a bright explosion appeared, out of wich the Deimos appeared. For the rest of the Flight to a repair dock she accompanied us and I couldn't take my eyes off her while she was flying beside us.
That day I told my father I would become a Deimos Pilot.
